Its a dreary night in Tennessee, and I was thinking how good a cup of homemade chai would be, and I decided to share this recipe for homemade Chai that I found in Bust magazine
Put 12 cups of water in a large pot. throw in half a cup of loose black tea leaves or 5 or 6 tea bags. add 3 or 4 whole cinnamon sticks, 15 cardomom seeds, 10 whole cloves, 20 black peppercorns, half a tsp. of freshly grated nutmeg, and an inch of fresh ginger, sliced thinly. Top off with a couple of bay leaves. Let simmer for half an hour, then strain. To serve, fill mug 3/4 full of tea, and add milk to taste. Sweeten with sugar or honey.
